For the microscopical observation of cells during the whole period in short and long term culture experiments a microscope per(i)fusion
chamber was constructed.
Both top and bottom of the chamber are formed by glass cover slips, which can easily be replaced. This way microscopical observation is possible without having to open the chamber or
even having to stop the flow of medium.
Cells can either be grown directly on the inner glass surface or on a tissue carrier which will then separate the chamber into an upper and lower compartment and turn it into a gradient
container.
Each of the two compartments can be per(i)fused with an individual medium so that an organo-typical environment for specific tissues (e.g. epithelia) can be established.
The lower vertical profil of the chamber allows microscopical observation at highest magnification.
Finally, for micro injection experiments the upper part of the microscope chamber can easily be opened.
